ok, so heres my question.whats involved with changing a boat from an i/o to a jet or a v-drive??? has anyone done one?

Depends totally on the boat. It is mostly fiberglass work....

Why would anyone do that?

I would rather switch my jet to a vee drive....

Actually I bought a jet boat as a project and late discovered that it originaly had a egg beater on it and who ever converted it to a jet did a piss poor job

So I scrapped it and bought a real jet boat.

Lotta hulls layin around out there. Way easier, cheaper and faster to just get the hull crrectly enginerred for what you want to do, a vee for a jet, flat for a v-drive etc.

when i see a topic called "what's involved" well i think hookers n blow

but when it comes to tranfering a jet to i/o well it's going to take alot of fiberglass..one other thing to consider is, if you decide to go with a mercruiser type stern drive well they require a 2 1/8 inch thick transom to get shit to line up...so now you are adding wood as well! now that you filled the hole in the transom and the hole in the bottom of the hull your probably going to have to color match with gel coat...im not saying it cant be done, but is it cost effective enough to do the job properly and safely?

Yeah, but he wanted to go the other way, not in a gay way, just opposite...Or vice-versa....You know what I mean.
