Title: Advice on a sleek craft rebel
Post by: Havasukona455 on February 22, 2014, 04:06:03 PM
Hey guys. Found a guy selling a 73 sleek craft rebel for a decent price. Boat looks to be in good shape. It's powered by a 455 built by Tom Papp racing that he says does 80 mph. It's got an American turbine energiZer pump with a diverter.

I wanted to get a boat with a 454 but with this price I'm considering it. Can you guys give me some info on the pump ? Any good ? Also to my knowledge it takes a lot to get a old to run 80 mph correct ? Any info would help. Thanks guys

I've seen 1 sleek rebel with a WJ pump in it, and have heard they also had the YJ pump, If it has been energized, especially the YJ, Its a good start.

On 1/4 stringer, check the floor for rotted wood/soaked floatation foam
.
Olds power, @ 80?...Hmmm

Bring a gps on the test ride, and take $100 off for EVERY mile per hour it falls short.

Good luck

Here's a pic of the motor and pump he sent me. I'm gonna talk with him more today and he's gonna pull the boat out and take better pics to send me. I'm not sure if it's a wj or yj pump. I'll ask him that today. It's got a tunnel ram with dual Holley 650s on it and Ka heads. I know the Ka heads are good heads cause there actual marine heads correct ?
