so ive done some searching. by far the most common answer is to add a bulkhead. however, id like to keep the space under there as is...for the most part anyway. right now there're pads that cover the whole floor and theres room for two to lay down. if i add a bulkhead....it reduces the space down to just storage...coolers, PFDs, supplies etc. ive seen some pics here where it looks like theres some kind of bracing glassed to the underside of the deck. perhaps this is to add strength or rigidity to the deck...enough to walk on. while i dont plan on doing the chicken dance on deck...id like to be able to walk out on it when needed....or for the wife to be able to lay out.
any ideas on how to make deck strong enough to walk on besides adding a bulkhead. and even then!...how far forward should the bulkhead be ??
ive got an 81, 21 foot tahiti day cruiser....or mini day cruiser...still not sure which. if i add a bulkhead....it would/should be at the end of my stringers....and thats before the flat part of the deck where you'd walk/lay on.
do any of you have pics of deck braces/supports??
