A buddy of mine bought this boat at a auction last year here in Albuquerque. It has California numbers on it, just thought it would be cool to get some background on it. It has a 455 and it looks like somebody put some money into it. Thanks is advance!

looks like BBC valve covers to me.. no?

No just fabricated.
-
That threw me off at first too.

Looks like a eliminator bubble deck? Or a splash of it? What's the first three letters on the vin#?

I can get better pictures tomorrow. I think he said it came up as a cobra, but not sure. I never heard of that kind of hull though.
-
Probably a splash of a eliminator bubble. The did that a lot back in the day. How much did he get it for at auction if you don't mind ? Any clue in what's done to it hard ware wise and motor?

I think its a crusader bubble deck like mine.
-
He picked it up for 1500, the tag on the pump says jb but it looks like a jg has a detailed impeller and a droop.
-
The heads are ported and it had a cam with a 4-7 swap but the cam was flat, so when we pulled the intake thats when i noticed the ported heads.
-
4-7 swap on an olds? Someone spent some money on that one.

Those V/C's are Chevy. Olds are much smaller than those, even fabbed covers, sorry.

You can clearly see a water block off plate on that motor, something a BBC doesn't have. Also, that block is way to wide sideways to be a Chevy.
Third, the picture shows my fabbed valve covers on my olds that look wider than usual for an olds to the untrained eye.

Here are some better pictures of the motor and the boat itself. Definitely Olds though has C heads.

I think the crusader, eliminator bubble, and carrera are all "almost the same" give or take a few lbs. the vin plate is exactly where mine was on my carrera. not sure where they are placed on the 2 other gulls I mentioned
