...cutting, my eyelid this weekend got loose. I guess sometime during transport or docking it ran itself back into the front of my hull and created 2 bigger holes where it was bolted down. The holes Aren't big enough to make the lid useless I did tow it back from bug river but it is sitting in there loosely.
I figured I'd just take the lid off, stick some silicone in it and tighten the bolts. But my problem is now way no how can I crawl underneath this hull. The bulkhead hole in the center is barely big enough to squeeze a life jacket in let alone a 6'1 200 lbs man.
Bulkhead is glassed in and pretty solid don't really wanna cut it out and reglass everything. At least not this close to the river season being over.
Can I just cut a bigger hole into the bulkhead for me to fit through and take care of my lid? Or should I just cut it and make a new bulkhead with a bigger hole in the center to fit a human being through?
Keep in mind fellas I have 0 fiberglass, wood experience which means either try and fail which we all have done the first time or take a saw to the bulkhead and make a bigger hole.
I know I know, pics say it all. Its too dark now so I'll take some hopefully tomorrow but at this point any suggestion is appreciated.

I hope we are talking about a bow eye... And not an eyelid....
Help me out here... I need a visual, but maybe a few more words would bail me out LOL...
I'm thinking you need an ophthalmologist... LMAO

It sounds to me like he saying his boweye got loose and reamed the holes larger than they should be.
If you have a kid teach them "righty-tighty, lefty-loosy" and send them up there. If you don't have kids, pay a neighbor kid.
Cutting eyelids - "Go on Mick. Cut me." ;D

i would personally remove the existing bow eye... drill and clean up the holes and get em to fresh glass... then the crappy part. crawl up inside the bow and with a dremel or angle grinder, grind the inside of the hull around those holes clean. id take some painters tape and cover the holes on the front. id trim a 2x4 to match the "V" in the front of the hull and then i would take thickened epoxy (because epoxy has actual strength to it where poly doesnt, and epoxy will stick to pretty much anything) and epoxy the holes shut and create a "bed" for the 2x4 to sit in. once its all dry and kicked, redrill the bow eye holes and use large washers on teh inside. the 2x4 on the inside will give strength to the bow eye and spread the load.

Yeah wtf I'm not sure why I said eyelid lol. Gotta stop drinking before posting. I could possibly fit an infant through the bulk head opening.

Backing plate on the inside and go up one size on eye. You could make a small custom plate for the outside if its damaged to.

Angle iron (s.s.) or angle aluminum works good for a backing plate.

Gonna need somebody with experience fellas. Someone that's willing to give me a hand with this one of these weekends...I'll do all the dirty work and supply the brew. Maybe even somebody that does this as a side job on the weekends and wants to do it for me without me bothering hehe.

The latest around be next weekend. Going to big river for labor day. I need some things done on the float by then.
-
I'm out of town currently, return next Friday. I'd be willing to take a look at it for you....
May need to bring boat to me....as my tools/shop aren't mobile friendly. I'm very near Knotts Berry farm. Repair shouldn't take too long, but really need to see damage. Up to you...

Alright fellas upon further inspection I'd say a skinny kid that gets the concept off righty tighty lefty loosey can fit through my bulk and under the bow...now who's got one of those sitting around and wants to make 10 bucks lol.
Stupid move...shouldn't have done that!

$10 bux?
That removes every kid I know....LOL
-
What the??? 10 bux not good enough anymore. Don't kids nowadays have to wash a car for 10 bux??? This is a 3 min job. This just reminds me why I don't have kids. They cost too much.
Stupid move...shouldn't have done that!

One sure would be useful right about now and I wouldn't have to pay him anything lol.

I usually rent Kyle out for $125/hour...2 hour minimum. He can fit through tiny holes and knows how to hold a wrench. All proceeds go to the college fund.

What the hell happened. Back in the days and no want in the 70s or 80s I'm taking mid 90s thank you I'm not that old yet...I had to work with my old man for 6 hrs to earn 40 deutsch marks which was about 30 bucks. Good God man I'll talk to the wife tonight maybe we can start working on our own so I can use them...5years from tonight I'll have my bow eye tightened lol.
Stupid move...shouldn't have done that!

Option 2...craigslist add...midget/small person wanted. Can't post "small child wanted" that would be a bit creepy lol.
