deck flex...

 hey guys .  i grew up  in a stevens flatty  wood and glass make up  and the deck  was rock solid  .. my ? is  on my new to me  76 spectra  19 ftr  the deck  is not all that stiff   it has some soft spots   ..  is this normal   or am i now to fat ?  lol   i have seen pics  of  folks standing  on the front of there boats  and there is no way i could do this..  i hope  it is  the norm for some of these ..  thanks       robbie

i have the same boat and it felt kind scetchy to me also and mine has the support piece under the dash.

my boats deck is pretty flimsy but in its defense it has a tiny support beam going down the center.  i can see some fiberglass remnants of where a bulkhead once was and i think putting that back in will add a lot more strength.

ok cool.  i just didnt want to find out that my boat was all rotten from the insideout   .   i will just not scoot across the deck when i am docking the brown and yellow turd..   thanks      robbie ;D

Mine flexes in some spots too. Other spots are rock solid though. I have a pretty weak and small bulk head also.

Just make a habit to walk around the edge.   Laying out on it should be no problem because you're spreading out the load.  All of my boats have had flimsy decks.  My dad's Nordic is like a rock though.
