Title: Calling sanger super jets!
Post by: boatsnores on August 15, 2014, 01:38:27 AM
Sorry the pics uploaded all weird. But just picked up a 1977 sanger super jet. I like the hull alot. Any one else have this hull? and or any input on this hull would be greatly appreciated. I know they came in quarter and full stringer styles and seems most full stringers were v-drives. Mine is 1/4 stringer but seems very solid. Current set up is a JG pump A impeller and place deverter with factory ride plate. 468 bbc high rise dual plane intake and marine 750 dual feed holley. Also has a cam of some sort not sure on any internals im going to pull a valve cover and see which heads it has tomarra. And one witb this hull please feel free to tell me your opinion and your set ups!

I have a 78. I love this boat. The only full stringer superjet I have seen is UFO 2, but that boat is way different than your standard SJ. Mine has a 460 bbf with a JG berk, full droop and diverter with the stock ride plate at 3* up. It Gps'd at 75 with the old motor, and the new one has way more in it(hoping for 80) These things are built like sherman tanks and ride really well. Your boat looks damn nice.

It's got an aluminum A and when I bought the motor it hadn't been dyno'd. So I called a machinist buddy and gave him the run down of parts. He thinks somewhere between 400 and 425. Nothing crazy

Hey boatsnores.  Don't kill the messenger, but that's a Sprint Jet, not a Super Jet...

Look at how much tighter the deck comes to the motor.
Super Jets have more clearance.
I've got a couple Super Jet emblems too. If I put them on my Rogers they'd still be Bonneville's

10" longer deck, tapered back same bottom as the superset. Sanger took the long deck from the flatbottom and custom fit it to the jet hull back in the day  Sprint Jet is sportier but heavier since there is more glass.

Yeah, but if you fiddle around with the title in a legally questionable manner, it can be anything you say it is on Craigslist...

Hahaha...

Ok...just stating what i thought I knew about the boat here... not necessarily disagreeing with any one sheesh.  Its not like  being a super sprint is bad. Its a better hull then the super jet just stating what I know and what the previous owner told me. Thanks for the input.

So I went out and measured the boat tonight it is 110" which would make it a custom sprint. Also I do see the tightness in the sides bybthe engine bay justike the v-drives.

I was just being a smart ass.
These boats have been through so many owners you really don't know what they've done or how there registered anymore.
I've seen Crusaders registered as Commanders and even the DMV says there #'s don't always match.
Personally I kinda like the Custom Sprint's better because of the longer deck. Nice to have something a little different.

No prob. I actually like it more now sprints are more rare and def unique its like the cool style of both worlds in one boat. V-drive style top with a jet.

As long as you don't mind compromising the extra room...  You scored!  As far as your Emblem goes they just put the wrong one on at the factory. Mine just says Sanger and Fresno CA.
