Can anyone identify this hull?
« on: June 18, 2021, 01:16:25 PM »
Hi everyone!

I’m looking at purchasing my first jet boat.

I found a pretty epic deal on a local project listing, but of course it’s one of those selling-it-for-my-brother deals and he doesn’t have much info other than the model year is 1976.

This in the only photo lol. Can any boat genius identify what it is?

If so, any opinions on whether this is a decent platform to build into a ~600hp boat? I may eventually want to 1/8th mile but it’s mainly for drinking on.

Appreciate any responses!

Hard to tell. Possibly a 18’ Hallett mini day cruiser?

https://www.google.com/search?q=18%27+hallett+mini&client=safari&hl=en-us&prmd=simvn&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwi8tMLh0aLxAhXTpJ4KHWXLD5IQ_AUoAnoECAIQAg&biw=375&bih=537

1976, it should have a HIN# on the upper right corner of the rear. The first 3 letters of that number will identify the hull manufacturer.
The condition of the hull, stringers and type of jet would determine if it can handle 600hp.
It takes a bit of work and money to make a hull fast. Without more info it is difficult to say whether it would be worth it or not.
Welcome to SCJB.

Looks like a 18 Spectra to me. It's running a Berkeley E pump, not the best pump for drag racing but great for drinking.
