thats a good deal for a CP. I wouldn't drop a 455 in it just because they don't like to go past 5000RPMs. I would put a BBC or a BBF in it for starts.

Is CP a good brand and what you think about the hull only for that price?

I don't have the cash to build a BBC and already have a great running olds motor. Wondering if it would be good for now.

It really depends on what you want to use it for. If its just going to be a river cruiser or like a hot rod type boat. A CP is a great boat for sure!

sure you can stick any motor in it. you'll just need to get a matching 26" plate mount for those stringer rails.
are you looking for a gullwing in particular? are you looking for a weekend ski boat or are you looking to make some WOT passes at the river? that looks like a heavy layup with the small outer stringers. You'll need to ask if they have the layup info on the hull. cp is the goto name in regards to the gullwings, other than a short production rouse. hence the hefty pricetag for the half rigged hull.

I apologize I'm a NewB to this, what is the layup info?

Not trying to be an ass but, CP Performance has nothing to do with any of the California performance hulls. Bill scotten is the man to talk to about these hulls. He has the newer Rouse mold also.

I didn't mean the online CPP.com. we both are on the same page.

Lay up usually refers to the weight of the bare hull. A light lay up will generally have less material ( fiberglass, wood).
A heavy lay up is made with more fiberglass and is stonger structurally. It is able to handle lake use better.
light- race use, medium & heavy - lake use.

It looks like it might be a different than a CP, the gullwing lines aren't as defined. Just throwing it out there.

Although that looks to be an 18' gullwing, it doesn't look like a CP . The deck resembles the one that ended up as the Wicked Boats gullwing.
OP, you need to get the Hull ID number from the seller.

Are they reliable?

A boat is only as reliable as the motor you have in it

In my opinion though, the CP is a dam good looking boat.

The jet boat gods would frown upon an olds in any gullwing unless its a trihull....
but arent gullwings splashed off a tri hull? BOOM!

Nice one brad. I don't see why he couldn't do it get some seat time and realize he's gonna want to go fast and throw more money at it and build a cheby or a ferd later on. If he can buy it go for it it's just gonna be a fun project setting it up for an oldsmobubble

If your are looking at a go fast river racer hull there is a nice red CP on here for sale, been up for awhile and I'm pretty sure it didn't sell.
As far as hulls go, it depends what you want it to do.
If you are looking for a weekend cruiser I think you're looking at the wrong boat. You can get a lot more for the same price.
But if you're looking for a nice river racer a gulling is a very good start.

Looking for a cruiser not anything too fast. I just like the look of this hull + all my stuff in my 19' sleek will fit right in this.

If your not looking for a go fast boat stay away from this. Its an addiction. It starts out I just like the look of it and turns into honey we don't need to go on vacation this year do we plus the extra money can be put towards the boat.

the gullwing design traps air under the hull to lift it out of the water for more speed. if you're looking for a weekend warrior cruiser this is probably not the hull you should be looking at...

That is NOT a CP........ It is a Fibertech (which became the Wicked).... I saw it advertised as a CP on Craigs List as well.. Just don't want anybody to think they are buying something only to find out it is not what was advertised. I sent a text message the number provided on CL and politely explianed that it's not a CP and he responded and thanked me for the info so he can't say he was unaware of the mis representation..
Just an FYI...... Carry on....

And yes Brad, it was a Glastron....... ;D
