Starting the rock climber project pictures to come. Have about five holes in the bottom of the boat ranging from 5-10 inches big. The bottom of the boat is a delta bottom and was wondering if I should convert it to a rounded since there is so much bottom work to be done anyways? Should I set the pump back. It will be a drag boat.

CJ222's boat is an Eliminator Scorpion, way different animal.
RTriebess, Are you sure its a delta bottom ? I thought they had a normal flat keel. Either way, as a drag boat I believe it should be changed. Its time to get in touch with the Daytona gurus !! ;) ;D

Hmmmm gonna say different, maybe not way different :-\, if memory serves the tunnels are roughly the same size, I wish I had some pictures of the aluminum picklefork we had. :banghead:
Rounded keel tunnels stay loaded better and are more stable at speed, you give up a little something in the area of low speed plane, but probably negligable.

Yea its a way different animal. Check out the before pics of the Scorpion again http://www.socaljetboats.com/index.php?topic=7243.msg105679#msg105679 , the tunnels look bigger then my 21', and its got steps on the sponsons and keel. From what I was told the Scorpions where built to work with OBs, hence the reason for all the bottom work on cj222s boat.

At the risk of pointing a member to another website, get ahold of Tony Skagen on Skagenboats.com.
There's a ton of Daytonas up here and he's been involved in almost all of them. He knows them inside and out and recently picked up a Scorpion as well...

I'm confused. Eliminator Daytona had a flat keel or rounded keel. Delta bottoms were on semi-V's like a Sprint. As far as a daytona goes if you're going to put serious HP to it, go with a rounded keel. If not stick with a flat keel it will get up on plane a bit quicker and get more boat out of the water with less HP. Rounded keel is for loading a pump with a lot of power to push it through. My APBA Ski-Jet Daytona had a flat bottom due to HP, race team's Comp-Jet was rounded.
