Title: Does any one know about Pantera jet boats?
Post by: crazyboutclassicboats on March 06, 2013, 09:15:31 AM
I just picked up my first turn key jet boat today. Its a 1987 18ft Pantera with a Panther pump and jet . 350 Chevy small block. It looks like a very well put together boat, full stringers. Does any one know if this is a good boat?

Only one way to find out, take it to Elsinore and kick its ass!

If the boat makes you happy, it is a good boat

Considering he is from the central valley, I don't think he's going to pass all the other lakes near him to go to Elsinore   :o

As for the quality of Pantera boats I don't have any experience with them.  Generally the main things you need to look for will be the same on all jet boats.  Hull damage, stringer damage, Floor rot, transom rot, deteriorating interior wood...

Post some pics.

I had a 76 pantara v-drive that I wish I still had great hull it was designed for jets not vdrives. I'v talked to Roger Finney Finneys powder coating and plastics in lake Havasu He was a Jacuzzi sales manger and had a lot to do with the design of the bottom of the pantara hull. I know hes been a drag racer and circle racer all jets and has a wealth of knowledge on that hull. I could be wrong because i've talked to him about many issues with jet boats but I think He drove one of the pantaras  he was testing well over 100mph He can give you all the info you'll ever want to know about that hull When you said pantara I just assumed you ment a hondo pantara If not disregard the above

Roger Finney drove and worked with a Hondo Pantara, nothing to do with Pantara boats, Pantara boats were made here in so calif. they used Haskells molds when they went out of business, they were not a high end boat,i know the 18ft bubble deck was a eliminator mold that was purchased by Haskell.
