Title: Does anyone know what hull this is?
Post by: AlwaysRiverReady on October 04, 2012, 04:48:27 PM
Ok guys i need a little help if possible....
I bought this project boat and the guy i purchased it from had it listed as a Hallett. On the pink it says "HUNTINGTONPK" and there is no plaque in the boat. Can anyone tell me what hull this is?
Thanks

did you look for the HIN? it should be on the right rear corner of the transome somewhere. If its not there it could be on the inside of the stringer somewhere. It almost looks like a sanger 17'-10" but who knows

if there is an HIN, how will that tell me what it is?
The HIN is usually stamped in the glass correct?

the first 3 letters of the HIN dictates the manufacturer as per the USCG MIC db.  It will tell who actually built the boat.  Look it up there:

http://www.uscgboating.org/recalls/mic1.aspx (http://www.uscgboating.org/recalls/mic1.aspx)

the HIN is normally found on the passenger side rear.  stamped into the fiberglass.  if the boat has been painted or gelcoated it sometimes gets filled in.

so I looked up that site and three letters are required. My HIN on the pink is only showing two letters before the numbers start....

What year is it claimed to be?  Before '72 (I think) they didn't have the numbers stamped into the hull.

Yup, then it should be on the stringer at the transom, written under the glass

I'll get a pic up of the transom tomorrow. Don't have one at this time.
The back is round with ride plates, has a jacuzzi jet.
It's a 72.
Thanks for all your input gentlemen!
