just heard that these were subject to rapid deteriation from the ethanol in todays gas....is this true or an ol wives tale...

yup its true. cut those old tanks out ASAP and replace with aluminum ones. you do NOT want a fuel leak in a boat.

Mine stated to leak and had new aluminum made.

Yeah buddy fiber glass tanks are bad news. I had to deal with deteriorating and leaking tanks. Tried patching them. But it was a band aid on a broken leg. All that cocktail of resin and fiber in your gas now is going straight into your carb and motor. Clogged up my canister fuel filter and filled my lines with junk. Should have seen the inside of the bowls of the carb. Anyways.....finally had them ripped out and replaced with aluminum tanks I got off of Craigslist. Keep your eyes on Craigslist and Scjb and performance boats for alum or ss tanks that will fit your hull.

unfortunately its all really true, you wont see it until its the worst time possible! i have a bow tank if your interested with gauge! also throw in the fill

I lived in St Pete for years...Gainesville and Cocoa Bch as well. I dont miss that place at all....well at least Mons Venus.
