Title: fin or not
Post by: 1smknjoe on August 11, 2009, 11:35:25 AM
my ? is i have a hondo picklefork jetboat. When i bought the boat it came with a fin under the driver side. The boat rides well but the turns are easy for left turns but not for right turns. The pump also has a fin. what will happen if i remove the fin under the driver side.  ??? will it be better off or on.

I take it this is a rare jet hydro not a tunnel. The jet hydros were not all that great because you could not get them to ride on the sponsons. Turn fin was added as you say to help with left turns since that is the way you turn primarilly out on the river.  Fins on both sides will certainly help with what you want to do. The old hydros (v-drives) all had them back in the 70's just saw Prowd Mary at Long Beach fully restored it ran them on each sponson. If you take the one off you won't be able to turn well ether direction.

as you know obviously they put it on for racing circle.. i would just leave it so you can pull some sik left turns.. the fin on the back i got one also but alot of people dont use them not sure why i think its i drag issue... but i would like to know also.. i know it will diffenently help you turn..
