I could use some help with suggestions with cutting my stringers to match the curve of my hull. Old stringers are shot.I have been using a piece of 3/8 ply cut to 6" to imitate the stringer and just want to get a good match. I measured every foot( front to back) and took measurements of gap then took overall most gap off the front and worked my way back. Seemed to work pretty well just wondering if anyone has a better way? With the vee I was just going to use a 3:12 like framing a roof. I measured a foot side to side and it rose 3 inches so side to side angle I'm pretty sure I'm ok but the front to back I want to be right on before citing into this KD wood

What is the differential from the farthest point?

The stringers are 12 ft. The largest gap is 5 ft from the front of the stringer. That gap is 3/4 inch.

Sorry, but I have to ask.
Does it seem odd to you that the stringer surface isn't flat?
Normally (I've done about 20 or so stringer replacements) the new timber needs to be tapered about the last 6"in the rear to allow for the lap joints in the transom area and the front at the bow where the hull tapers up. If you have anything in between, I would question the straightness of the bottom.
How is it supported/blocked right now? It sounds spot on to me. Be sure to "bed" the new stringer in an epoxy putty or cab-o-sil and resin.

There is a 4" of tabbing from transom I wasn't too worried about I can easily figure that. I was more worried about getting the bow rocker to match. The rest is flat. The bow starts its incline 5' back on the stringer increasing to 3/4" rise. I want it to remain within 1/8 gap to have proper bond. I did pretty good with a mock up with a 3/8 plywood stringer I cut. I was just wondering if you might have a trick to getting it dead on?

I set it in the boat, block/shim it straight and scribe the stringer with a pencil. Then I use a power planer to shave it to the right shape.

This are the tools we use to fit new stringers
Angel finder, scribe, a good table saw , band saw and a good belt sander
And if I'm replacing 2×6 I get 2×8 so once I fit them I have room to rip them down so that their are the same size
