I have had my hallett bubble deck
now for 23 years and have enjoyed
It very much. I'm seriously considering switching things up,
To a 18' rogers Bonneville. Can anyone tell me how the rogers
Behaves as a ture 100mph lake boat. I know these hulls are two
completely different animals.
Thanks

While the Rogers/Advantage is a proven design and has a slight edge over other v-bottom hulls, your Hallett bubble deck is the real deal and is a very under rated hull. There is absolutely no reason why your Hallett can't be a legit triple digit boat.
Pictured below is Place Diverter and Controls' Corporate Jet. Notice the dropped chines, which trap air a provides aerodynamic lift. Most V-bottom hulls do not provide any aerodynamic lift and are therefore less efficient hull designs. This is the Rogers/Advantage to have.
I would like to mention If Looks Could Kill, one of my all time favorite boats. This boat runs extremely well and the whole team is deadly constant. If Looks Could Kill doesn't have the dropped chines like The Corporate Jet (pictured), but it is a perfect example of a well executed combination.
1986 Advantage

1986 Advantage
Regarding your Hallett, that is a very good hull. It can handle big power and rough water. The bottom of your Hallett and If Looks Could Kill are very similar. Again, it does not have any aerodynamic lift and is slightly less efficient than the Rogers/Advantage with the dropped chines. Performance wise, you will hit the proverbial wall roughly 10 MPH before the dropped chine Rogers/Advantage. If v-bottoms are your thing and you want push into the high one hundred teens, you really need to start looking gull wings. I do, however, believe that it is possible to build a gull wing killer if you wanted to start with a brand new Advantage.
If you wanted to share more about your current combination and goals. I may be able to help you make a more informed decision.
Cheers,
Joe

reminds me, I need to finish up my projects thread, true 100 mph boat
best so far is a 9.62 at 108mph in the 1/4 and yes we take it to the river and my kids drive it
love the "gullwing killer" part Joe

That’s a badass pic... I’ve got a Rogers as well that’s shooting for triple digits; still in the build phase.

Hi Joe, thanks for the in put.
I agree with you on the Hallett being under rated. My was running
103+ befor I tore it down. Looks like your saying I should be looking for the Rogers TR and not the 18' Bonneville.

Just curious, did the halletts have the pad or round keel? 103 is cruzin!!!

(http://) Hi Joe, thanks for the in put.

What are your goals? Maybe you should be looking at a winger or tunnel. However, you did say "lake boat," so maybe that rules out the low fretboard stuff. Without knowing your goals, everything is speculation.
What I was really trying to communicate is, some hulls are more efficient than others. What that means is: 1.) It takes less horsepower to run the number. 2) At some point, safety becomes a factor. That point is different for each hull.
With a modern, more aggressive take on setup, boats are quicker and faster. I say that there is more MPH and ET in your Hallett.
I leave you with the following question: Would you simply like to change things up a bit? That is as good a reason to buy a Rogers as any.
Cheers,
Joe

That’s a killer deal! Someone should jump on that.

I hear great things about Rogers hulls. I owned a Super Cyclone for about a year, but it wasn’t running any serious power.
I have an Advantage 20.5 Sport Cruiser (Rogers Bonneville Classic) that’s running about 600 HP. It handles amazing and feels stable into the low 70’s which is where I’m currently at. It has drop chines like the 19TR.
I recently picked up a Bonneville that I’m going to build with the intentions of hitting 100 mph safely and consistently.
