Unless you're launching off role bar boat wakes then a lite lay up boat is fine for the river. You have to use your head. Hauling ass is meant for good water anyways. You can get out of shape and hurt or kill someone other then just yourself.

Just cause you have a light lay up does not mean it needs to be an anchor queen. I drove my boat all over last year up and down the river almost every other weekend and it's still in one piece. The difference is to know when to keep it on the anchor and when to go out and make a pass. If you are the one that owned aj's boat I'm sorry to say but the passes you were making were not in safe water for the weight of that boat. That boat was a tad light to be jumping rollers and doing the "jetboat hop". If you had a 800lb gullwing I would say go for it.
