Ranger is a major builder of Bass boats.  They used to build some jet boats in the 70's and maybe the 80's.

I thought they were a bass boat builder. I just wanted to know if anybody knew anything about the ranger jet boat hulls. The back of my hull is stamped ranger. It's a 1976. Just curious thank's crewchief.

My friend has a ranger I/O...and it is, identicle to the sleek craft hull hdrider has...same length and everything...once again were going back to the splashing and molds exchanging hands! Although after seeing the sleek and ranger hulls I would half to say that the sleek was probably layed up a little bit better...

i picked up a jet the builder plate says sun mfg. co. tryed to find them on line but no luck. would like to know what type of boat this is

I would agree with you Nordie. Maybe that's why sleek craft is this making jet boat or power boat hulls. Good info thanks.  :thumbup:

I've spotted a few Rangers for sale, never got the opportunity to really check one out though. Ones I've seen all seem to be Sleek splashes or using old Sleek molds. As far as the layup, I'd have no idea. I know the Sleeks are layed up very well, it would stand to reason even a reputable 'Bass boat" company that thought enough, and invested enough, to copy from, or use molds of tried and true formulas, they would have laid them up well.

VERY sweet! Looks remarkeably similar , if not identical, to my Pickle on the bottom, a 20' Sleekcraft whatever it is (Still un-ID'D), but a top almost Biesemeyer-ish maybe, although shares some Sleek lines. Good Score!

The low freeboard you're going to encounter (The splash guard will help SOMEWHat), just be careful! You can lift or stall, or as I have done, make a fast sharp turn by lifting, turning, and landing on it again only to nearly sink myself. Learned real quick why that boat has 2 bilge pumps............ >:D

Full stringer? Regardless, should be one runnin' SOB!  :thumbup:

Same thing happened to me to ray. Almost sunk the boat when I first got it. Boat turn's on a dime.  :o. It's a nice running boat. Had it for 4yrs. Had no major problems with it yet. Very dependable. I think we talked before ray about carbs. I had dual 450's on the boat and I wanted to go to 750's. Well I ended up going with 660's. Got a good deal. Thanks for the compliments guys. :thumbup:

thats what i was thinkin, as well as the deck. the only difference i see is the transom has more angle to it.

You're right! The outer strakes are a lot more like a hornet than mine.

First jet boat my parents had when I was growing up was a Ranger Banshee. 460 with Jacuzzi pump. Always had problems with the motor. Later after we traded it in for daycruiser, found out that the block was cracked and that was what was causing all the problems. The next owner never had a problem. Anyway, nice float!
