Title: Lifting hull off trailer? and a floor question
Post by: patha on July 19, 2009, 11:24:08 PM
Need to fix a crack on the bottom but I can't get to it on the trailer.  I suppose I have to pull my motor out to begin with.  Its a 18' Challenger jet boat.  What are my options, I don have an a frame, i do have a shop crane, and can probably fab something up. just need some ideas here.

also gotta cut some of the floor, not sure if it is wood or fiberglass??  i know in the backseat it is fiberglass flooring, is that available to buy in a sheet or what are my options there?

I used 2 cherry pickers to, by myself, jack an 18' jetboat (no motor or interior, and drained tanks) off the trailer, turned it over and set it down on a dolly. Where in CA are you located?

I set mine down on a flat bottom boat dolly that I have so I could roll it around, but I have seen some set upside down on a number of strategically placed tires.

my boat is a 1/4 stringer. pulled the floor to fix a crack.  the 2x4 that runs down the middle of the boat, is it structural or what?  mine is waterlogged from the leak from the crack.  looks like it can use replacing, how hard is it?  or should i just let it dry nice and good and reglass it?

shawn if you can flip it like bo posted pics of, it will be easier to fix, and you can really fix the problems from the ghost ride.
bo crack the whip on that thing and get it goin.
