Alright, the title speaks for itself. Why would the previous owner (original owner) pack the bow of a closed bow 19' boat full of this garbage? I'm familiar with stand up jet skis built for surf riding being stuffed with pool noodles in the event of losing a hood but what's the purpose here?!?

All the old jet boats from back in the day are filled with 'noodles'! When my hubs opened up our 81 sprint it was like it was snowing! Huge mess!!!! I'm thinking floatation in the case of an emergency.

Wow!!!! That's crazy! I'd donate all those packing peanuts to ups!! The old owner must have been very paranoid about that boat sitting bow up if she sank!!!

My old 74 Rogers bow was sealed & full of bags of dingle berry type foam. I cut a hole and removed it all replacing with an inner tube.
I would prefer to float the bow instead of going to the bottom, just in case. Have one in my Daytona too.

I've been working on the hull of my rogers and in the crash some the bags burst... foam beads are EVERYWHERE
I'm probably going to build a mold and use vacuum bagging and 2 part expandable foam to make a removable chunk insert.

I had a couple of these huge air bags that are used in shipping in between pallets of product to keep them stable in transit. Rolled them out under the deck and filled with air. Hope it never has to be tested to see if it works or not.

Is this really a normal thing?? Theres nothing behind my bulkhead except the throwable and ropes.. I always thought if my boat went down the air would be trapped behind it and keep the bow up... Or is that completely incorrect??

Idk I just had them I figured better safe then sorry didn't add any weight. I was told the air would slowly escape through the rivits in my rub rail. Might be an over reaction just a very small peice of mind should things go really bad.
Either way it would be a REALLY REALLY bad day!

I would like some more info on this if anybody can help. I have not cut a hole in mine yet but would like to know if cutting the hole has any effect on hull integrity?

Anybody? Think he has a splash of an Eliminator. Could he cut a small hole for storage?

Holes in bulkheads are probably fine, in fact they may be even better than a solid bulkhead because they won't be as rigid. One just has to make sure that the corners on the hole have a large radius, and there is a sufficient amount of material between the hull and the hole so stresses can flow.

I cut a 16x16 hole in the solid bulkhead of my sprint, and I'm glad I did because there was some delam in the supports for the bow, but yes those peanuts are a bitch

The air will find a way out. When the boat is under you can here a hissing sound. That's the air leaving the bow and the boat going down. Costs about $2400 to get you boat from the bottom of Lake Havasu. Got swamped by an ass driving a 36' my little 19' jet that sits 2" out off the water did not stand a chance.
