A little too fast coming in...havent done glass work since the 70"s on the vette...since its the nose where the top and hull come together I thought I would get some advice on how to go about and make a solid repair...painting to match is a separate problem since I have auto (RollsRoyce color blue) paint with POR15 clear...
your sound advice is most welcome...

I want to say remove the top chunk and try to cut it down a bit and get it cleaned up. Then with the piece cleaned up and the boat cleaned up glass them back together. You might be able to use some "kitty hair" or chopped mat to fill in some large gaps or holes if need be. But that's just my opinion. Probably not the best way IDK.

Not trying to make light of a bum deal, and I don't have a clue as to offer how to fix it, but I must say that looks like a new version of alien in that last pic!! Like something is bursting out the bow >:D >:D

i would say cut out the damage then repair from the inside of the boat. then when that is cured fill and glass the outside of the boat. then sand to correct shape and use body filler on any pinholes.
Thats what i would do.

save that piece your going to use it, rather than trying to form a new one! your going to have to feather back the piece and the hull. then glass it back in.do you have a grinder and a DA. youll need one . Oh and a mask dont breath that s--t its not good!

+1. cut that piece free, grind some material out of both sides to get it clean and feather out a nice little low spot on the top and sides, glass/kitty hair it back into place on the bottom and on the inside. removing that piece and trying to build it back up from scratch is going to be a pain in the ass.

Well it looks like i got a problem then...cant really crawl up inside anymore since there are stringers on the top like a house has between 1st and 2nd level to support the next level...put em in so i could walk and sunbathe on the deck...never thought i would have to go inside again...so i guess plan b is gonna be necessary...
any suggestions since i can work from inside...
i am thinking of having a stainless plate made in shape of a v (sorta) to slap over it and just cover the dang thing up...and put the rub rail back on...

you can still put the piece back on . your just not going to be able to work the inside.youll just have to prep both pieces more before you try to put it back together.

please provide a little more detail on "prep" both sides...thanks...i confuse easily... :screwy:

Prep would be sanding down all of the frayed fiberglass so that it is smooth. If you can't get inside you can still sand the frayed fibers from the deck and the nose piece and use kitty hair ( chopped fiberglass mat with resin pre mixed ) as like a glue and the glass over the top still using some kitty hair to fill in if needed. Then sand everything back down to smooth after it's cured and you can paint from there.

take the broken piece sand it down basically tell there is no more paint or primer on it cleanoff all the freyed parts then do the same to the boat. now fit the broken piece to the boat. this may take a few times. the better your prep work the better it will come out.

thanks to your suggestions i have made the repair...saving that broken piece and using it was key...then i put a stainless steel cover over it and its done...the cover wraps around the bottom where the two halves of the boat come together and screwed into the same and covered by the rub rail...not bad for an amateur huh...
