Yup, thats the best way to go bud! make sure you resin it on both sides too keep the water out.

For that price, shop maple, birch ply, even baltic birch.
They probably used some bs cdx originally and smeared some reason on it and it lasted how long....
Don't waste your money on "marine" plywood.

Ditto on what beerjet said... I used regular ply.. either mdx or cdx(come in one side a bit smoother when I got mine). Just seal and glass it. I even went over with gel coat. If you are looking for a lighter way to go and don't mind the cost... go down a to a fiberglass material store, they have composite sheets in different thicknesses. Its some sort of poly/air combo and super strong. After you add the glassing your back to the weight though.

marine grade plywood has better water resistance... that being said its also damn expensive. i used 3/4 cabinet ply for mine with resin coated both sides, edges, etc. floors are gonna need to be replaced every so often anyways.
