Truck tire inner tubes.
How deep of water do you boat in?
In my opinion,
If your boat is going down, floatation in the bow will probably only keep it floating for a few minutes if a minute at all.
But it should keep it pointed up as it sits on the bottom. :-\

Boat in areas that will not put you in trouble all the time. Lower river is good most of the time. Avoid big lakes with big boats. I have a 79 tx 19 and we have no problems at all.

I built a Rayson craft GN boat and managed to flip but when we did the build we installed foam in the bow. It was a super high density foam it was lite only about 15 pounds and we sealed off the bulkhead. The boat bobbed bow up for about 20 min until we got it towed to shore.
