Title: Southwind 18’
Post by: bobjthomson on January 22, 2020, 02:08:14 PM
Had the pleasure of working on this bitchin boat . Boat is at place divert and controls for a laundry list of thing that the owner wanted done and fixed .
Fuel tank switching unit by Imco , trouble shoot the up down switch for the Diverter bildge pump float , drill and tap a drain hole in the transom lol yes it didn’t have a drain lol that must be fun taking the boat into good ol California lol  . Tim made a bitchin bracket for the forward rev handle that mounts up inside the gunnel and bolts everything up nicely . I love working on these type of boats as I treat it like it’s my own . Big shout out to Tim and Scot place and Place Diverter and Controls for letting me work on these bad ass boats .

@bobjthomson

Anyway you can get some good/detailed pictures of how the fuel tank brackets are shaped? If they're similar tanks to mine the tanks and the brackets were made by Lightening. I talked to Jan a couple years ago he said he only built them for a couple years. So once my brackets needed to be replaced (I through my old one's a way); I didn't know at the time that there wasn't a real good replacement part so I just used IMCO's not knowing that they were different.

I think that is Yard Dogs old boat. He said to come take a look at it but I was never able to come see it before he sold it. Is the new owner on the boards?

Wish u sent this before Saturday lol boat left that day . I think the new owner is on fb SoCal jet boat ,his name is bill , nice guy . Said he bought the boat in havasu I think . As for the brackets for the tanks I can’t remember how they were installed ???? But it would be hard to see as there is carpet in the way . Reach out to bill on fb , will get his last name when I get back to place Diverter today .

Thanks...

To be honest, I probably need to get a used one and have someone copy it. The problem is that the tank bracket was only offered for a couple years so finding one is difficult. Let alone finding one that is out of the boat. I am getting to a point where we are just going to fill the tank holes and do something different. Finding one would be some much more easier though.
