Just wondered what people think of a 73 18' Southwind jet. I'm looking @ one BBC/Berk. how well do these hulls hold up?

i have 2 18fters=1 have owned one since 82=it is a 78 -i have had to repair a couple of cracks in bottom from pounding the waves at high speed-but is a good boat-running a 460bbf droop/ride plate/diverter and runs 75

bay area. thanks for the info. its got an olds in it I thought it was a BBC I have heard the Olds have oiling issues but I have seen alot of the olds/berk set ups any info on that? I have a great running BBC in my Tahiti but its hooked up 2 a panther maybe I can swap em. so anything  special to look for on the boat before i pick it up or at least go check it out. I'm gonna look around the keel and under the bow anything else?

check the stringers to bottom glass=if he would fill bottom in back with water and check for any leaks from bottom=check bulkhead under deck-this is not to major=

chevy or ford would be better=there are things you can do to olds oiling system to make it better-should be a thread on the site about it=do a search-

im in rio linda which is outside of sacramento=jan 1st there is a big get together at camp far west  lake- come on out

thanx for the advice i will do that. kinda worried he said its been sittin for a few years but it turns over bad gas and all that he said he would try to start it i was like well get that gas out first man lol. it looks like good condition from pics i just want it to float lol no leaks like you said

can you get any pics=mine are 1/4 stringers-most 18teens are 1/4 stringers that i have seen

where is the boat located/craigslist etc

yeah hopfully the guy opens up a little more about it when i talked to him he was kinda real quick short answers
