I want to make a simple splash guard. Thinking about a piece of aluminum 7 1/2" x 36" x 1/8" thick with rounded corners. This would cover the back, I'm not that concerned about the corners. Has anyone made their own? The only easy place I can find a piece of aluminum close to what I need is a Home Depot door kick plate. It's 6" x 34" and a bit less than 1/8" thick.

ive seen them on other boats, and i would go to a metal supply yard for the materials. or maybe go to a plastics company and see if they can sell you a piece of plexi, just take your time cutting and grinding to keep it clean

The aluminum from HD or any hardware store will be too hard(more than likely 6061). Go to Alternative metal supply, on Ave. Crocker. They will probably have a rem., and if it were me and I was not going to bend it to fit the radiuses. I would go no thinner than .060''

I got my smoked plexiglass splash guard, machined aluminum washers, stainless bolts and washers and nuts from Bergerons in Phoenix, love it

I cut mine out of left over pieces of race car windshild 1/8" lexan

Just seen one the other day made from thin aluminum diamond plate.....looked good!

Looks good, but is a little short around on the sides. I still get water over the sides of my boat since I shortened my guard to clear the headers.

My boats got lots of freeboard, I still drive away from my wake when coming to idle into a no wake zone, probably just used to how pops did it driving his old southwind. If I don't power away from my own wake I just get a gush on both sides from the vents with the grab handles.
Is the splash guard just for coming to a stop or do wakes slosh over the back when floating?

I don't get much over the back when stopping, but when floating wakes will dump a lot of water over the sides.

I don't get much over the sides or corners on this boat. It's mainly straight from the back. I slow down the same way - power away from my own wake. At my ramp on the river was the main reason, can't control the wakes coming in and they would splash big straight over the back. I don't float in this boat, that's for my Cobra. This one is all about the adrenaline rush O0

To bend the lexan did you have to heat it up or did it bend easily?

Just bend it. I've tried heat before using a heat gun and it damaged the lexan.
Also... never use brake clean to wipe oil off of lexan :banghead:
