As far as I here recommended track boat. Harsh shut downs and can hook real hard. I ran against a 16ft at southwind regatta last year and luckily I just got past him before the motor shut off or Becky would have been no more. Driver of the Texas tunnel got thrown out as well 👎🏻

I know the 18 gullwings are not the safest boats as well but I will probably never line up up against a Texas tunnel on the river for safety reasons

that's a bummer. I thought it was only the pickle version of the Texas tunnel that had the problems.

I know the 16ft Suck but mines a 19ft (pretty close to the California performance hull)

Might wanna try and give Chris at b1 a call or Greg at Gs. I know the 19 gullwings are great river race boats and handle well but never heard too many good things about the tunnels on the river.

Just certain models mainly the cp tunnels and Texas tunnels. Daytona, Cheyenne, tpr, placecraft, swtd ect shut down mostly straight.

In my opinion it's certain hulls. you couldn't pay me to drive a Tx 16 tunnel 18 tunnel or any version or the CP tunnel. Are they fast boat? Yes, but I've know too may people that have gotten hurt from them.
I've lost power in my Southwind tunnel over 100 and it went completely straight..

You can call jack McClure at Mpd. He has a lot of experience with them. I know he makes a sponson piece but I don't know if they're adaptable to a tx. They may just be for the cp version. I've heard different things about then . Pic is off the wall at mpd

i got a Wildercraft 19 tunnel. Was just wondering. I did lose power once at about 60mph and luckily for me the boat stay straight the whole time.

so people just don't like light lay up tunnels like the cp/19ft Texas? they get sideways when shut down?

I've heard when you shut down hard it will hook one or the other sponson causing you to spin and go for a swim. Some people love them and some are scared of them. I tried doing as much research about them as I could. You just have to be careful and make sure if you're gonna go fast to have the proper safety equipment. Do some googling and you will find some write up about them.

I have had both a TX and a cp tunnel and the cp is a direct splash of the TX with the duck bill changed and yes they are a race hull and quick as hell and yes you have to respect how they shut down but a lot of that depends on how much hardware you hang on it I have never had a problem with shut down on but I don't get crazy with the hardware for a 10,0 to 9,0 boat they're hard to beat

my motor is about 150-200lbs lighter than the bbc. just running a Berkeley 12jg set back. nothing fancy.about 500hp. don't think I'll have too much of a shut down problem because of the big weight reduction but who knows. just shooting for a nice, reliable, haul ass when needed boat.

Ever have any big issues with your hull just purchase a Texas tunnel? I know they are a bit squirmy on shut down just asking for your experience seeing this post is a bit old.
