Post by: Tancilitis on March 10, 2011, 05:17:45 PM
What do you guys recommend or have used to seal the exhaust tips on the fiberglass side of the boat?  Got some new polished tips but need to seal them better.

thanks

If they are like these...I used clear marine silicone. No need for high temp. They are always in the water and water is always on its way out....Put a nice bead around the tube to flange area.
Make sure you get some around the bolts and snug it up...wait for a few then tighten up. (https://www.socaljetboats.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg43.imageshack.us%2Fimg43%2F7863%2Fnewexhaust.jpg&hash=09cb8c3a2cba1726aa9414f7ca6bf01df4b113fd) (http://img43.imageshack.us/i/newexhaust.jpg/)

Soon as you get it back on the trailer, spray some clear vinegar on them...keeps em looking polished new.

+1 on getting them snug and then letting it set up with some clear silicone.  then once its kicked a little bit tighten up the bolts.  otherwise you'll just squeeze all of it out and you'll get a little pin leak.

at least thats how i was told to do it on another board.
