That's when a beer bottle cap gets set on the deck and the contents of the bottle thoroughly enjoyed....

LOL, Actually it means removing the gunwale moulding and filling and rounding the parting line between the deck and the hull....AKA a lot of freaking work

....But looks sweet.

still not getting the lay up part,im new and trying to learn.I found a gullwing and the guy said it's a medium lay up so i was just wondering cause i wanna build a boat that will run with the big dogs between 90 and 100 mphs or maybe even faster but sometime in the future.I gotta jet boat savings account going

light lay up 250-350 lbs
med 350-550
heavy 550 on up

edit, this is just what ive read. i have no experience with hull building

Layup is just as Ralh says. It refers to how heavy/ thick the hull actually is. If you are looking for a river/lake boat and are not planning on strictly racing I would look for a med or heavy layup.

so when you remove the gunwale molding what is used to fill and seal, fiberglass, bondo? I just picked up a new hull, less motor and pump and no molding, but it,s not capped. Any body know someone in the san diego area that does this work?

I'd start with Kevin @ KMG, he's down in your area.
I talked to him at the Yuma Power Tour last Oct., seems to be a good guy.
If he's to expensive then try O.C. Boat Repair.
It aint going to be cheap, alot of labor in it.
