Title: Where is a good spot to drill a hole for my place diverter cable?
Post by: Boats N Hoes on March 02, 2011, 01:50:48 PM
I have a 73 Hondo Jet boat and I bought a place diverter for my boat. I now need to install the cable for the manual place diverter, where would you drill a hole out on my boat for the cable?I know it goes in the back of the boat but where is a good spot?.... Do i need to  place a seal to go around the cable or special something???? :o

yes theres cable seals for the diverter.  just find a spot thats directly where it needs to go with no kinks or crazy bends on both the outside AND inside of your boat.  plus cable routing to the controls is a factor as well.

here you go...this is how mine was done, and i like it...the cable runs right down the stringer and right out of the boat

I would drill the transom adapter and NOT the boat if at all possible.

I used a an fitting that I cut right down the center. I had to do this as the fitting would not go over the end. I then installed blue hose and end clamp fittings to keep cable from moving. This is a very cool look and protects the cable from rott.

drilled and tapped right next to the berk B.
Use one of these to seal it. pick the one that fits the cable

I ran mine on Moo identical to Nordies. But on Pickle, was easier, and more correct, to not fock up the hull by running it over the transom. Actually worked out and looks cool that way. Can't seem to find a pic of that though........Tom at JBP asked me to do it that way and sent me a cable long enough to do it.  ;)

X2 on "Over the Transom", less bends, less holes, easier cable movement/operation.

Thanks for all the ideas for routing my place diverter cable. ;)

my boat is tiny so i had to mount the handle about right below my right knee. The cable goes along the seat frame, through the seat drains, under the motor  and out the transom adapter. pretty much a straight shot.

Somebodies gotta have a picture of it somewhere. Really is sweet how it worked out on that boat.  Too bad I never took a pic of it.........

It was probably on one of the 4 phones that went in the lake/river!  ;)

We refer to those incidents as "wet testing the Blackberry"..........but dunno if they work or not honestly, they're still down there......... :screwy:
