Worth it to convert a 19' Daytona from wacker to jet?
« on: September 22, 2015, 11:17:28 AM »
Has anyone done the conversion from outboard motor to hear drive on a 19' Daytona? I've heard it can only be done to certain hulls but can be done? I've heard of a lot more 21' Daytonas getting converted, but what about the 19'?

Hmm, what needs to be done besides setting the intake? I've heard some of the hulls have differant keels and are easier than others?

What are you going set the intake into?

What are you going to mount the engine to?

It's a crap load of work. Imho, I would do a 21' before I burnt myself out on a 19'.

JM2....something to be said about a 3.5liter Evn. or a blown, injected Verado hanging off the back. Those are pure evil. Prolly no more than a real nice jet set up. Just depends on your desire an pocket bok

Just looking at it I would think you could throw a rail kit in And more or less set the intake into the existing keel but that's what I'm not 100% sure of

Well I already have a motor and pump, and I would rather have the sound of a Bbc than the wacker anyway. I'm considering this as a hull upgrade

But it's a 19.

Do you have transom/keel pictures?

FWIW, it's a custom rail kit, custom transom adapter,  electrical system,  pump brace,  your going to eat up 30-40% of the interior space with Detroit gold.

I really recommend you go sit in a 19, then a 21.

I'm 6'6" 240lbs (in case anybody is paying attention, that is a loss of 15lbs.) And I do not fit in a 19. The 21 I can drive comfortably all day long.

No, I was trying to get the guy to send me transom and keep pictures but haven't got them yet.

I FULLY agree on the 21 being the way to go, I was the third guy in line on that one that sold in Colorado recently but the first guy grabbed it. They are just hard to find and either pricey or sold right away. If I could find a good 21 with no motor and in the 8-10k range id grab it. I have ridden in a 19 as well, and I know it wouldn't be all family friendly like the 21, but it would haul ass with my motor and pump lol

Hey hey, I did say I agree on the 21, they are just hard to find. This guy scoring one for 8000 just gave me some encouragement lol.

Now for the next question naturally, if I can only find a deal on a 21 outboard, are they easier to convert than a 19?
