Title: cleaning and conditioning white vinyl interior
Post by: mattt on August 30, 2017, 01:26:57 AM
The white interior on my boat is showing it's age and holding dirt in the texture of the vinyl.  I was talking to a friend of mine who uses "Performance Boat Candy" vinyl clean and vinyl condition.  I have not used it myself yet.  What are some opinions on this product....is it worth the $$?  At $45 for 2 bottles, it would be nice to hear more experiences with it.  Anything else out there that works as well/better at a lower cost?  Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the replies.   What are these "white sponges?"   I've read about an interior cleaner from 99 Cents Only store too calling LA's Totally Awesome or something like that?  Anyone here had good results with it?

What is Malco?

Is the reference to Mr. Clean, as in a cleaning product, gel, liquid, spray???

Thanks again.

I like Tuff Stuff and a brush. Works great and can be bought cheap at Walmart or any auto parts store.

For conditioning I use VLR from Mother's.

Ok, I went to the 99 cents store and think I figured out what the white sponge is.....Rinso Magic Sponge, comparable to Mr. Clean Magic Eraser.

I am going to try the Totally Awesome Upholstery Cleaner.

I'd like to pick up some of the Performance Boat Candy Vinyl Condition.  I emailed the company and they're bad about replying.....sent a few messages to them and still no reply.  Anyone know who stocks this product in OC, preferrably central OC near Orange/Anaheim?  Thanks.

I tried the magic eraser sponge(in small areas where I had black mark) and L.A's Totally Awesome interior cleaner.  Both worked well in brightening up the white vinyl interior.  I'll say this as a word to the wise though, avoid leaving the interior cleaner sitting on your fiberglass gel coat.  It will leave a temporary mark that seems to go away.  There was some leaked cleaner from the spray handle on the bottom of the bottle that when I moved the bottle the next day left a ring imprint of the bottle bottom on the gelcoat.  As days have gone by, it seems to have gone away.

I'd like to still hit it with the Interior Conditioner from Boat Candy, but I try to avoid Amazon when possible....Jeff Bezos, founder,  is a douche that advocates for trash, garbage so I avoid supporting his businesses as much as posslble.  PBC has still not replied to my inquires from their website.  Amazing.
