I'm using black marine grade rug and I got it through some place in rialto called J and R fabric . They will have everything . I dont know if they have a website or not but they have everything and then some. I'm insearch of some old school shag also for the hallett so we'll see how that pans out.

Let me know what you find out on the shag.  I would like to put new shag in my Hallett as well. 8)

I saw some old school shag at Lowes this weekend. It wasnt there in stock on the big rollers, you had to special order it, but they had some nice samples.

I'll have to check out the local Lowes and some of the old carpet stores in my area.  I never could find anything on the net other than just "shag area rugs".  When I talked to Nick Barron at last years LA Boat Show about shag for my Hallett, he said "good Luck".  He remembered my Hallett and who the first owner was.  I'm not sure how many more seasons I will get out of the original shag from '77. :o ;D

Dave,

Just to keep something in mind, but I am not sure if it makes a difference....this isnt marine grade carpet. I dont know how it will do in a boat. It might rot, get moldy, etc.

it may be worth a shot anyways  ;D

Goad,
Marine grade does not matter to me.  The original shag in my Hallett is not marine grade carpet and has no mold that I'm aware of.  It is faded, but, over all in fair shape.  Not bad for 30 year old carpet.  A 4 hour trip to or from the "River" drys the interior quite well. The carpet under the bow is pristine.  I plan to keep it in place (nostalgic reasons) and replace all the carpet that has been exposed to the sun.  My boat is kept indoors when not on the water.
I don't know if the quality is as good today as it seems to have been 30 years ago but to me it is definitely worth a shot.  Thanks  :)
