Title: Foam backing on new vinyl ??

Having new seatcovers done, is there a purpose or necessity for the thin foam sewn onto the back of the vinyl.

It acts as a quilting to help eliminate wrinkles on odd shapes and also used when doing pleats.....

Another benefit is the "puffy" look that can be done, if done properly it will be pulled into the welting (also called bead) and has an overstuffed look to it.

Most vinyls can be bought with or without the backing.
