Finally got around to installing the HD carpet and used there glue with excellant results!

what carpet did you end up using? outdoor or indoor stuff?

I used indoor/outdoor dark green stuff to match boat. Its like carpet you would use on speaker boxes. I used boat last year with bare fiberglass floor and man carpet sure helps.

What glue did you use? And has anyone used the HD stuff and glue, and gotten it wet?

I used the HD stuff cause I heard here it was good and 12.00 is much easier to spend than 35.00 for glue from west marine

I used HD carpet and glue on my trailer bunks, 6, 7, or 8 years ago and still there!!! Still looking good

I used liquid nails and hd carpet in mine so far its workin good

It was only 65.00 for carpet and glue
Can't beat that.

The HD glue never really cured up for me $:-\$ and i dont think the HD stuff is water proof. yha the price is good, but the west marine glue IS water proof and cured up over night into a hard shell.
Even though mine was only a temporary fix its been wet many times and carpet hasnt moved AT ALL.
Not to say the HD stuff isnt good ...it just didnt work for me .

I'll let ya know if I have any trouble with it or not. Just glad it looks better than bare fiberglass floor

Have used the HD and have removed it as well...great stuff for the price. Just don't over lay it(real thick). A nice clean coat will dry enough for years of use. Getting ready to install more on mine as I just pulled everything out off my hull for new motor, pump, tank and sub floor....

I have noticed i got a couple thick spots on the sides where i touched it by accident and they are still a little tacky yet but when it gets to 120 degrees outside it should dry good.

Yeah I have everything out of the boat at the moment and trying to decide which carpet to go with. Plus I damaged one of the side trailer covers last outing. Now when you guys all replaced your carpet did you use any seams or just one big piece?

I had to seam especially toward front where v in hull starts coming up but I pushed seam together real tight and you can't hardly see them.

Yeah, the current carpet had a seam right at the foot pedal and they were it started coming apart. That's why I was thinking one piece and not have I worry about it. But that means a lot of extra pieces left over. And more cost.

I know the thread talks about HD and WestMarine adhesive but what are the names of the brands that worked well?

I don't recall the name of the glue/adhesive but I used HD indoor outdoor waterproof adhesive. When I get home I will look at the name of it. It was like 13.00 for a gallon and it was more than plenty and worked good. No complaints here just don't put on thick or it might bleed threw carpet

use a trowel (i took a plastic card and cut 1/8" notches in it) to spread it evenly. then i took a rolling pin (you can use a paint spray can... just something smooth and round) and push the carpet down into the glue.

I picked up the Roberts brand. I re-did the carpet in my fantasy years ago and used what they had at HD and the adhesive worked great! and with the way stores change products wanted to get something comparable. I just repaired the floor on my roll bar boat. (Will have a thread covering the fix coming soon)

I used the grey commercial stuff with 3M spray glue. Seems to be holding up so far
