I dont know how to link stuff, but in projects, under 19' Rogers Project, page 8/9. You can see I kerfed mine and soaked it with water. Afterwards I filled the kerfs, then glassed it inside and out.

you do soak it in water and its a slow process...

these i got from a friend, but they were actually fiberglass tubing! soooo much easier, and then you can cut and design them to your liking...kinda wonder why not alot of people have really done this

That's a nice looking seat!  I guess I'll try that too.  Did you wet or soak the wood for the bend?

yeah i dipped it in the pool for a good 10 minutes on both sheets. just start rolling it on one end, using screws to hold it. i used 2 pieces that are the same shape of the bottom of the seat to screw into one for the top and one for the bottom. then after it sat overnight and all the glue was dry, i freehanded the shape of the seat with a pencil, cut it out little by little with a jigsaw, and finished it up with a belt sander.

during this part of the project, the 1/4" impact driver drill was a lifesaver. no need to predrill the holes. it has become my favorite tool for everything, and its even a ryobi

Hey, what do you guys use for waterproofing the seats? I had a local upholstery shop out here in Indio redo my entire upholstery, i.e. carpet, seats, decklid, panels and everything turned out great but it looks like they used a little waterproofing as possible. I've seen what looks like Bondo on some posts.

I may need to take the boat back to someone reputable just to make sure it lasts a few seasons.

Thanks.

The way I look at it is the seats I pulled out of my boat were 40 years old, they were resin coated wood.  I did about 3 coats of thinned resin that the wood soaked up like a sponge, then about 3 more coats after that. I think I used a whole gallon or more
