Title: New engine , new gauges ????
Post by: 2savage4you on January 21, 2008, 12:05:06 PM
im getting ready to place my order  and was thinking if i should buy new gauges?  I wanna make sure everything works perfect and not blow a motor cause the temp gauge didn't work right.

What are your thought's on new gauges? run what i have or buy new? what would you do , maybe im taking this a little to far but i dont want to be down another summer cause i broke the boat again ;D

did your gauges work prior to taking your boat down? If they did, I'd say test all the sending units, test the gauges, if they still work then save yourself the money.

2sav,

When you get the oil pressure sender, or any other for that matter, make sure you get the adapter bushing as well.  I got a new oil sender and the bushing was missing.  I wrote and asked about it and they told me it was too long ago and they were sorry.

CP Performance

I got the gauges from Rex and then ordered the anodized bezels from Jet Boat Performance, I should have bought it all from Tom.[/quote]

Check with Tom.  He can set you up and save you a few bucks too.  He has less overhead to pay for.

Tommy is the best. You really can't go wrong plus if we keep him really busy Rhonda may get some time by herself without grumpy around.....

I don't have it.   :)  I wish the weather would warm up and dry out so I could get the work done I need to do so I could install my bling-blings.

I think I'll clean up the dash and then rattle can it for the time being and get it looking like what I want the finished product to look like, complete with the new installed, so I know everything will fit, then when the weather breaks and I can do a JORK to it, I'll be all set to drop everything out of the way and go for the paint job.  Then new carpet and upholstery.  That can wait till the end of the summer though.

I've got to do some kitchen remodeling for the wife so I can keep her happy and me playing with the boat.

Powder coat oven in the works to be built so I can do my own, a new CNC machine and an anodizing line.  WOW!!  I've got lots to do.  Hobbies can get very costly, not to mention boats.  :D :D :D

Yes it did , But not any hotter than the black foam one did . I jumped in once after the boat had sat in the sun half the day , everyone was taking off for a run so I had no choice . It was in the 110 degree range so it was hot for a little bit . Got my hands wet and solved that problem . Otherwise it barely gets warm . When it sits under the canvas cover on a warm day , it is untouchable  :o I end up letting it sit in direct sun light to cool it down . Thats why I never cover it at the river .

I bought the gages at Rex marine and I also have angled bezels that didnt fit . The marine stuff was about the same price as the auto motive stuff . Not to mention the marine gages will hold up all winter long if your boat sits outside like mine does .

Here's my Tach in the bezel.  It looks like it's going to fit ok, just need to change the mounting brackets in the back.  It's sitting on a box.

A friend of mine put vynl behind his gauges, looks like a piece of brushed stainless as a dash insert but it's actually vynl. It looks very good. They make all kids of vynl, both in colors and styles (diamond plate, brushed, etc...)

It's blue vynl underneath the brushed looking vynl, for a border. It looks really good in person.
