If you normally carry passengers you will get tired of having to climb over the seats all the time.  I usually have three people in my small boat and would not be able to deal with two benches.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

Well Chief I guess perception is everything.   I have back to backs in my 18 ft Horizon and I love em.   Great to stretch out on when floating and you can put more people in a small boat as they optimize the space.    Much better for "adult" activities in unoccupied coves when you don't have a real boat LOL

Not that I would know firsthand about that stuff

I had to get rid of my back to backs....heavy foot, bunch of HP and a feather light hull, it would stand up and scare the living crap out of anyone in the back seat, no one would ride in them...

Now have two buckets and a bench (front facing)..

I did like the back to backs because of the extra leg room (I'm 6'6") but may as well have been a two seater...Besides, it is much easier to get my big giant but under the deck now...

Whoa whoa whoa -- careful with that talk about "big giant butts".    I don't know what will happen first, either Omar will want pics or the Vegas boyz will chime in to Gay up this thread in no time.

Oh now you did it, I only used one "t" in the word "but", you used two, I did that so Omar would not find it under a search....... >:D

not looking at doing any back to back i know that seating kinda sucks for passengers.  climbing over isnt too much of an issue since there is hardly and isle there anyways

Why would it suck for passengers?   They get to stretch out more than anyone else in the boat.   They can observe a skier.   They are very very close to the peeps in the front so conversation while underway is easy.   I don't see the downside.

I like having a bench in the back but then again i have two small kids and I like the idea of them not getting into the motor area.
The only down side i can see to bench bench combo would be you have to have a full stringer boat with no floor up front to mount your diverter control to. If you do not have a PD then should not be an issue. I do like my brothers front bench it is cool. It has a spot for the driver with a side to hold you in the driver seat then the other side is open makes it nice.

They make Stringer and Floor Mount Throttle and Divertor controls. I have a 1/4 stringer with Bench to Bench and floor mount throttle and Hydro divertor

The point i was trying to make and did not clairfy well, ok not at all was with a bench to bench and a floor the manul PD would be between your legs and that i do not like. You have a hdraulic so no worries there.

patha, I have what your thinking about and really like it. I can seat 6 in my 18 ft. jet and my cooler fits outside of stringer between the 2 seats. no cons that I can think of except that there made out of thick ply wood that is heavy and rotting. I will  replace with glass some day.

Nope! You mount the diverter control so when you want to toss it back in full roost, your hand is n the wife/girlfirends best friends crotch when you do it. >:D

Had a 4 speed Nova with a bench seat in high school. Loved 2nd and 4th gears! >:D

Had a Tremec 5 speed in a Chevelle, that very thing kept it in fourth gear and prevented a lot of tickets :sly:
