The trim that wraps around the inside of the boat is vinyl with padding, stapled to some type of backing ???. All the trim is good except for where the curves are, the backing has deteriorated, what can i use for the curved portions of the trim? I don't want to pull the whole trim off, I just need something i can stick behind the vinyl that can take a staple.

Are the buttons through hull? If so, might try a thin strip of aluminum inside material with similar curve as hull then re-install. I used 1/8 x 1/2 strip for a curve behind my seat in my 56 recently and worked very well. You can see it under the vinyl.

Yes, the buttons are attached to a bolt that goes through the hull. How did you attache the vinyl to the aluminum?

You might be able to cut a small slit in the back and slide it in. To give it its full thick shape back, might have to go a tad wider. I drilled and riveted mine on....But you could use a thin piece held by your buttons.

There is a type of moulding we use at work sometimes for window casement. The name is slipping my mind right now but ill let you know when i remember. Also if the bends arent to aggressive you can find some bendy wood at the local lumber yard
