I am having a hard time finding a new steering cable, maybe someone here can be of help. My cable part number is Morse 300620 180'' 3832. Where can i find the cable and rack? And can i choose the specific size? I think it needs to be about a foot shorter and ran at more of a straight shot rather then a loop. Thanks for the help!

The new kits will be Teleflex.
They can be had at virtually any marine shop and on line everywhere.
You won't find a new Morse.

What part number do i go off for the teleflex to make sure the rack and pinion are the same?

It won't be the same.
It will be similar. Was your cable red?

Yea mine is red, i just want to make sure its going to mount up to the steering wheel before i order one. Is there a specific model number i need? Sorry I'm new to this.

There were really only two different mounting methods for the wheel, a square pyramid looking deal with a hole down the middle for a long bolt (Mercury Ride Guide) and everybody else pretty much used a 3/4" tapered shaft with a woodruff key and a nut.
The helm bezel will be different and may put the wheel closer to the dash. In most cases you can adjust it by buying a helm extension, but not really necessary most of the time.

I would buy the whole kit.
Buying the cable is a crap shoot.
Many times the pinion gear section is worn.
I do the whole kits, they're the same price as just a cable.

I have a complete helm, that I bought new from Place for my 20.5', and is in perfect condition. When I bought it, Tim told me that there are two length cables available and the other is much longer. Basically, I had only one option, but if you are interested, I can measure the cable for you. I have decided to go Calgo and will not be using this one.
Cheers,
Joe

Two length cables?
There are over 150 different lengths available.
I have a 51' kit sitting in my shed. For a houseboat.

51' would look pretty silly, but I'm sure he could zip tie it up under the deck or maybe loop it around the boat a few times to take up the excess slack.
I just repeat what Tim Place told me when I ordered it. I wanted a specific length so I could route it exactly where I wanted it without extra slack, but it's not available. Exactly how many lengths are available specifically for an 18'-21' jet boat?
Please direct any further questions to http://www.placediverter.com/contact.php

Lol, I wasn't saying to use a 51' cable. Simply saying they make virtually any length.
Loop it around. ..hahaha.
