well i took a look at it and called stern drive engineering and found out it is most likely a 3 bolt so all i have to do is remove the y pipe and cap it with that plate right?
Yes sir...you can also remove the exhaust bellows on the outdrive if you so desire, it won't serve any purpose anymore. You will want to use some below the waterline silicone on the mating surface, some of them use an O ring, but I believe the later ones, can't remember...
Use stainless allen bolts or reuse the factory bolts, make sure they don't bottom out, also use lock washers and some blue Loctite, you don't want those bitches backing out!
