Yeah got it sorted out. My problem was a mix between the 23" prop and to much trim.

She's nice and stable now all the way up to wot

what prop are you running now? 

Kayotk: I want trim tabs badly, but kinda pricey. I want to do my through transom first

As far as the prop questions. I have three lol

a 19 pitch 3 blade stainless for skiing or tubing. Its a monster out of the hole with this thing.

My favorite prop a 21 pitch 3 blade mirage plus stainless. This thing is perfect, decent hole shot 5400 rpm at WOT maybe a little more

And I still have the 23 pitch 3 blade for long trips (i.e. Laughlin to havasu springs). Its mainly to keep the RPM's down and a higher cruise speed. I typically cruise about 3500-4000 rpm at approx. 45 mph with this. But it is a lot of prop for my little small block

K planes are awesome... I have Bennetts on my Carrera, you should not have an issue with chine walk as long as the cavitation plate is below the keel...

It's nice to level out the boat when the big boys are aboard though...

Yep. It runs pretty well. Down in blythe, with an empty tank, a 1/4 in the other tank and a fairly empty boat with just me I ran 72.1 on GPS from the island down to Macyntire when the boot ripped and she was taking on water. Trimmed out pretty high and WFO.

According to the engine build we followed (or actually stumbled upon after we built the motor) its making approx 465 horse and 440 ft lbs. Ill find the link later and post it.

Hoping you have a Bravo in that bad boy... Also a drive shower...

If you have a 1.50:1 drive ratio you would have been spinning closer to 5500 RPM.

Yeah.... I'm on borrowed time running an mr 1 drive. I keep the oil changed and fresh. Also no hard hits out of the hole only when on plane. And no drive shower yet. But it will come with the new drive. I was a little off on HP I guess closer to 440. Here's a link to the build that is almost identical yo mine

Having seen hundreds of these torn down, the failure you will have will be the top vertical shaft bearing, pull it apart and check out it's condition often.

I will, I am in the middle of working out a deal on a bunch of closed boat shop inventory in the coming weeks, I will see what is in there and make you a package deal.

For the drive itself (1996 Bravo I 1.50:1 gears) upper and lower, less prop but new seals and epoxy paint $1000
The water pump is not in the drive on a Bravo, it will need to be crankshaft driven, I have the pump, but will need to scare up the brackets... Right now I only have 454 brackets.

As for the transom assembly, I am in it $200, but will have another $150 in it by the time the smoke clears. New boots, gimball bearing, pivot bushings, and so on. If there is some stuff I can use in the inventory I am trying to get, that will be a bit less...

Will update as information materializes.

They didn't start making the reservoir standard until about 1996, before that it was an accessory, many boat manufacturers added them to the package because it was such an inexpensive upgrade at time of purchase. Both our I/O boats have them, along with the alarm buzzer option. They are both 1997 drives. My recently acquired 1986 Cobalt does not have the reservoir.
