Title: 12jg suction housing bowl damage
Post by: Boon917 on September 20, 2021, 05:48:19 PM
New to the forum looking for knowledge. I have a 20.5 Carrera 454 Berkeley 12jg. Was having an issue with water pressure to the engine. Upon inspection of jet found major damage to the impeller. Pulled the bowl and found the bowl seal was wasted and bearings were shot. Main shaft oblonged bearing seats in bowl. And also damaged suction housing wear ring seat a little out of round. Was wondering if anyone has installed a repair sleeve in there bowl.? is this done to fix damage similar to mine? What is the level of difficulty to do the install?. What options are there to correct damage to suction housing.? Wear is less than 1/32” out of round.

It can be sleeved like a dominator bowl but the cost to machine and the sleeve is$$$$ u would be better getting another bowl for lot less. Also if u had that much wobble then there is a good chance that the bearing cavity might be jacked as well . Need to check the cavity to make sure it’s not blower out .
