Title: 2° wedge
Post by: Maker on September 24, 2014, 03:21:44 PM: I'm going to be installing a 2° wedge I have seen angled washers are they needed or can I get away with using regular and lock washers I have also heard I can use rtv instead of a gasket any advice would be appreciated

Plastic wedges don't need a gasket

yes.
And also a stud kit. Don't use the bolts that thread into the bowl u could easily strip the threads on the bowl because of the angle

Post by: Your Mom on September 24, 2014, 04:35:08 PM: I have a plastic 2* I used gaskets an went slightly longer bolts. Just snug em up. I tried a 3 with same deal but a 4 would be best with angled washers. If you plan on constantly making changes...studs would be the way to go.

Post by: Your Mom on September 24, 2014, 06:03:36 PM: They need to seat all the way in bowl and should have at least a few threads showing after mounted up with nuts/flat washers. Its cheap to just buy a long enough threaded ss rod an cut them to fit.

Post by: GT Jets on September 24, 2014, 06:34:41 PM: Blue Loktite on the stud to bowl and yes should be bottomed out. The Loktite keeps then from siezing in the bowl. I don't like lock washers on stainless. I use stainless steel aircraft nuts and thread sealant and stainless washers. 316 if you can find them.
