ok guys i have a stupid question. i talked to a guy that has the same boat as i do, he said he could cruize at 52 mph, mine will only do 52 wot is this a good speed for this boat or do i need to rebuild my pump? tho not a big power boat i am running a 4.3 225 hp from what i gather its a c cut impeller,in a volvo penta jet (legend) 1850 pound boat

If its the exact same thing as yours then he is lying to you or his idea of cruising is at or near wot.  Or another thing is that his speedo in his boat is way off!

52 MPH at WOT is very respectable IMO, there are people on this site that have 50 MPH Big block boats (although they are bigger boats).

What kind of RPM are you getting out of that V6?

If you guys go boating together I would call BS and race his ass! (a little bit of premium fuel and a 2* bump in ignition timing never hurts  )

im hitting about 48 4900 rpm at wot boat is pretty wet. diverter needed badly

10-4, sounds about right, "wet" is the way those boats are designed to run, a Diverter would help...IMO, I would expect another mile or two, tops...

lol yeah thought about doing that when i replaced the engine last spring but oppted not to due to having to rebuild the sun deck and moving the seat forward to fit the engine, just didnt have the cash to do all of that plus insurance company paid for the new engine and they would not replace with a larger engine.........
