Title: airlock?
Post by: steves86ta on November 16, 2015, 04:17:50 PM
I figured i would ask here....

I took my boat out to the Avi Saturday and ran the living piss out of it. It ran great... even did quite a few bottle runs

After one bottle run i got a little agressive and turned it pretty hard at slow speed. More or less cranked the wheel and stabbed the gas.

Boat turned fine, everything seemed normal.

Hammered it again, and this time i noticed the RPM's shoot up to the rev limiter (7k)...

So naturally worried because i just did a nitrous runa nd i was worried something let go.

Dropped my dad off at the dock to get the truck and shut the boat off for a minute or two

Went for another ride, and everything seemed fine. Stabbed it and it pulled to 5200 or so like normal. Wouldnt go any higher. Felt normal

Sprayed it and it shot to the 6200 mark like normal but quickly came down in RPM (stupid me turned the bottle off)

My quesiton is, could i have sucked air into the pump when i did the hard turn, and it just had a bubble/airlock?

Abnormal?

Sounds like the pump cavitated thru the turn

Even if I don't have an issue when putting the boat in the water?

. If you turn to hard and your intake comes out of the water nothing will help.

That's what in thinking happened. And sitting there with the engine off primed it again

Sounds like you sucked some crap up and it "fell out"  when you sat with the motor off.  Had it happen a few times.
