First time boat owner. I have a Berkley jet pump and would like to do any maintenance to it before i take it out. I know i should fill the pump with gear oil but I dont know what people are using. Any other suggestions on maintenance please let me know. Thanks

90w gear oil , use the Lucas red line or royal purple

I think any heavy gear lube is fine. I put 85-140 in mine. My seal leaks a little, and the heavier oil stays in better, and helps keep water intrusion down.

Really, you can use any oil in an oil-lubricating Berkeley bowl.  You can even convert it to grease-lubricating, although I think oil is a better option.  It is even possible to convert to water-lubricating.  It just can't run dry.

It's the easiest thing to service, I topped mine up every time I went out.

Oil only , if u use grease it has a tendency to harden and only traps water in the shaft and bushings , it’s a quick fix to help short time but if ur boat sits for too long it has a tendency to rust out and when u fire it up after next season u smoke the bushings . As for water lubrication on the early dominator bowls did this . It it’s blowing out the oil change to 140w and plan to blow the pump apart next off season . Go through it too to bottom and then u don’t have to worry about it for a good few years , FYI When u winter the boat make sure u out fresh oil in the bowl and check it every other month and top it off .
