Plumbing

Ok My first question i got for everyone: Is there a way to plumb in a hose(s) to the motor and the pump to run them in your drive way for maintenance purposes?....I'm asking because I've been around outboards before using the earmuffs and common sense is telling me that it's probably not good to run your jet dry while the engine is getting hot as well...I didn't know whether to post this in the engine forum or jet...Thanks

Yes i will grab you a pic

As you can see there is a fitting to hook a hose to right next to the valve

Running the jet dry is bad, i use two hoses one for the engine and one into the pump ( Stuffed into the bowl ) but not to far in

This is how my Saguaro was plumbed.
Home Depot plumbing dept. with the hose to hose adapter.

Capped off and drop it in the water!

Steve, small thread jack, AN is not the same as flare, just so you know, there is a potential for leaks on the AN to brass you have on that deal you showed a pic of.....

Also, try not to use rigid pipe on the jet pump too, 3/8 pipe is pretty weak and succeptable to snapage...

I use this one on my Hallett since it has garden hose ends at the gate valve .
Disconnect the hoses and attach the splitter to each end and thats it for me .

And here's the cheapy way.

Hose to motor has a female hose connector at the pressure reg. Just unscrew it and connect the hose. Just be careful with the amount of water you put into the motor, don't over pressurize it. And if possible unhook the drive shaft (dont run the pump dry), or at least stick another hose in there to keep it wet like 2sav said.

I use Propless's setup as well. Simple and it works. Plus, you never have to worry about capping it off.

I like it better, i really didnt like all the weight on the little pipe and after all ive been through i was just going to run it.

Now it's one less thing i have to worry about..

Now i have to go back and fix the holes i drilled for other brackets that i was trying out

Silicon for now and glass in the winter

It needs a new floor too and carpet and i want to redo the bulkhead....... I might aswell tear it all down now so next summer i will be ready to go

Sillycone will be fine a for a month or two
