Been running my pump with no grate since I picked it up. Feel like I'm riding raw dog everytime I go out need some tips. Should I get one? If so is it the same as a berk? I have a Frankenstein pump with a bayjet vac housing I put Berkeley bearings, impeller, wear ring all fit. I even put a jc bowl on it. All this stuff fit with very little "work". Should I spend the $ on the grate?

That impeller is for "choppy" water :sly:
I've been running a sport loader on my cruiser, and going to get a stock rock grate for mine. (after a 'low water' incident)
If a berk or other would fit, I don't know, get some measurements off of the intake.
Somebody here might know...
