Berk seized oil fill plugs
« on: July 28, 2017, 10:36:40 AM »
Hello. I can't remove the two oil fill plugs on my Berk JG pump.
It's a '79 and bought boat used. Any helpful info on how to remove them?
The square head twists a bit but not the entire plug. I'm afraid if I use too much
muscle it will just break off.

Thanks.

I'm having the same problem with one of mine. I clamped down on it with vice grips and it didn't budge. Just shredded it. Thinking if drilling it out

Hit it with a torch then quench it with penetrant. Let it cool completely, come back and heat it again and twist them out.

Happens all the time. Use PTFE paste on the new ones...  ;)
